In 1915, World War I broke out, and Yvonne volunteered to serve as a nurse. She was sent to France, where she witnessed the horrors of trench warfare firsthand. Yvonne's work as a nurse inspired her to become a war correspondent.

In 1936, the Spanish Civil War broke out, and Yvonne traveled to Spain to cover the conflict. She was one of the few women war correspondents at the time, and her work helped to raise awareness of the war's atrocities.

Yvonne's work as a war correspondent was dangerous, and she was often in the line of fire. In 1937, she was seriously injured by a shell blast. She was evacuated to England, but she eventually returned to Spain to continue her work.

In 1939, World War II broke out, and Yvonne once again volunteered to serve as a nurse. She was sent to France, where she helped to care for the wounded. In 1940, she was captured by the Germans and held as a prisoner of war for three years.

Yvonne was finally released from prison in 1943, and she returned to England. She continued to work as a nurse and war correspondent until her death in 1970.

Yvonne Claypole was an extraordinary woman who lived a life of adventure and danger. She was a pioneer for women in war reporting, and her work helped to change the way the world viewed war.
