The story of the Nauer family is a testament to the courage and sacrifice of American families during World War II. From Pearl Harbor to Iwo Jima, the Nauers served their country with distinction, and their story is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by so many during that conflict.

The Nauer family's military service began with the patriarch, George Nauer, who enlisted in the Navy in 1940. George was a skilled machinist, and he quickly rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a chief petty officer.

George's son, George Jr., followed in his father's footsteps and enlisted in the Navy in 1942. George Jr. was a talented pilot, and he soon became a fighter pilot. He flew numerous missions over the Pacific, and he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his bravery.

George Jr.'s younger brother, John, also enlisted in the Navy in 1942. John was a skilled electrician, and he served on a destroyer escort in the Pacific. He was involved in several major battles, including the Battle of Leyte Gulf.

The Nauers' youngest son, Robert, was still in high school when the war began. However, he was determined to serve his country, and he enlisted in the Army in 1944. Robert was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, and he parachuted into Normandy on D-Day.

The Nauers fought bravely in World War II, and they all returned home safely. However, the war had taken its toll on the family. George Jr. was wounded in action, and he suffered from psychological problems for the rest of his life. John was also wounded in action, and he lost his hearing in one ear.

Despite the challenges they faced, the Nauers remained a close-knit family. They were proud of their service to their country, and they were determined to make a difference in the world.

After the war, George Nauer Sr. became a successful businessman. He was active in his community, and he served on the local school board for many years. George Jr. became a teacher, and he taught history for over 30 years. John became an electrician, and he worked for the same company for over 40 years. Robert became a farmer, and he raised crops and livestock on his family's farm.

The Nauer family's story is a testament to the courage, sacrifice, and determination of American families during World War II. Their story is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by so many during that conflict, and it is a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
