Philip was born in Iraq to a Muslim family. She grew up in a secular household, and did not receive any formal religious education. However, she was always fascinated by the Qur'an, and as a young woman, she began to study it on her own.

Philip's journey to understanding the Qur'an was not an easy one. She struggled with the language, the concepts, and the cultural context of the book. However, she was determined to persevere, and eventually she began to make progress.

As Philip delved deeper into the Qur'an, she began to discover a new understanding of Islam. She learned that Islam is not a religion of violence or intolerance, but a religion of peace and compassion. She also learned that the Qur'an is a book of wisdom and guidance, and that it can provide answers to some of life's most difficult questions.

Philip's journey to understanding the Qur'an was a transformative experience. It led her to a deeper understanding of her own faith, and to a new appreciation for the beauty and wisdom of Islam.

If All the Seas Were Ink is a beautifully written and deeply moving book. It is a must-read for anyone who is interested in Islam, or in the journey of faith.
